v Students can keep a journal during the summer months, writing a little each day or a few days a week.

v Suggestions for making reading fun during the summer: Visit the Library and sign up for a summer reading program or create your own. Read about cities, events and people that are relevant to places you will visit in the summer. Read outside on a nice day. Focus on “other” types of reading; magazines, shopping lists, recipes, comics, newspapers etc. Design a family reading challenge that sets a goal that should be met by the end of the summer.
