Hello! Welcome back to school! The 2020-2021 school year is certain to be a challenge for all teachers as we navigate through these new uncharted territories. It is my prayer that things quickly get back to a more “normal” situation sooner than later!
That being said, I am excited to begin a new albeit different year with the students at St. Jerome’s. Please know that I will be following all the guidelines necessary to keep your children safe during music class. We will follow the guidelines regarding singing and playing of instruments.
Fifth through 8th grade will begin with an in-depth look at instruments of the band, orchestra as well as folk, rock and “country” instruments. Demonstrations of instrument live and from video samplings will be used to educate the students on the families of instruments as well as their sounds and “uses” in music.
Since singing will be limited (if allowed at all), our younger students (K-4) will also be exposed to instrument identification, demonstrations and videos! I’m currently compiling new materials on these subjects gauged to younger students.
My lesson plans for the rest of the year will evolve based on any new developments! As the year progresses, I’m hopeful we can get back into “full song” and make this year full of music and joy!
